La Lic. Mónica Santiago, diputada electa del Partido del Trabajo (PT), tiene un trabajo muy amplio y de mucho tiempo en favor las mujeres y la niñez, y eso será la tónica de lo propondrá en su participación la LXV Legislatura, dijo a este medio durante entrevista.

Dijo que esta con muchas ganas de llegar a la LXV Legislatura, para presentar la iniciativa México Ampárame, para los niños huérfanos por COVID-19, quienes no han sido atendidos por el gobierno estatal y federal.Dijo que esta iniciativa se origino en la página change.org y actualmente lleva más de 2 mil firmas como respaldo.

La intención es brindar atención y apoyo a estos niños y jóvenes que se han visto afectados por la pandemia del COVID-19. Mencionó que actualmente en el estado de Oaxaca, son alrededor de mil 300 niños que han quedado huérfanos por el Coronavirus, y a los cuales no se les está brindando apoyo.

Explicó que aunque no existe un registro oficial, es necesario hacer un trabajo para atender esta problemática.

Asi mismo, adelantó que en los próximos días hará pública una agenda más amplia, donde se incluirán iniciativas de gran innovación, acordes con los nuevos tiempos que vivimos.

“La política tiene que cambiar. Vamos a hacer cosas diferentes porque eso es lo necesita la sociedad oaxaqueña. Somos diferentes y por eso haremos cosas diferentes y de mucha utilidad para Oaxaca”, señaló.

En relación a impugnaciones que efectuaron otras fuerzas políticas en relación a su designación, dijo que están en todo su derecho, pues esos partidos lo que seguramente están buscando es privilegiar a hombres en vez de mujeres en el legislativo.
